A Trick To Hanging Christmas Lights Without An Outlet
The house I am living in right now has no outdoor plugs which presented a major problem when hanging Christmas lights. I didn’t realize this until I was trying to plug in the lights. I was determined to plug them in… which required a 50 foot extension chord. The extension chord prevented the front door from closing, was a fire hazard and would most likely be the cause of a broken ankle by the end of the week.
As always my father came to my rescue and informed me that there was a solution. For less than $5 I was able to eliminate the extension chord and have my lights turn on with an indoor switch. How you might ask… it is a little something called a SOCKET ADAPTER. You can find it at any hardware store.
All you have to do is unscrew the light bulb in any outdoor light fixture and screw in your new adapter. They even sell an additional piece that accommodates a three prong plug! The best part about these amazing doodads is that you can use your outdoor light switch to turn them on and off. Who knew one of my favorite Christmas gifts was hiding at the hardware store all along!
